In this role it further serves as the site where ammonium is converted to urea for excretion by the kidneys and is also responsible for immunological effects acting as a ‘molecular sieve’ for antigens. Consequently, higher and higher exposure to these toxins results in a greater demand on the liver to adequately perform this task. MAIN INGREDIENTS
*Artichoke Extract: The source of this extract is the plant’s leaves. The main components are Cynarin and Cynaropicrin that serve to stimulate the formation and elimination of bile, in addition to a role as a liver protector through regeneration of hepatic (liver) cells and tissue. Furthermore it may impart cholesterol lowering effects. Concomitantly there is then the added benefit of preventing excessive accumulation of fat particles in hepatic tissues and blood, thereby reducing arterial hardening. Other components of the extract include flavanoids and tannins that possess and provide anti-inflammatory properties.
*Black Radish Root Extract: A vegetable rich in fiber, minerals and vitamins, black radish is an excellent cholagogue thereby cleansing the liver and gallbladder by re-establishing the harmonious functioning of these organs to promote waste and toxin elimination after meals. Historically, black radish has also been used for its antispasmodic and diuretic properties.
*Turmeric Extract: A plant extract that contains curcumine that has benefits as an anti-inflammatory to reduce joint pain in addition to eliminating toxins. Curcumine's anticoagulant properties are thought to result from its ability to limit platelet aggregation thereby reducing hardening of the arteries. These properties in addition to its positive effects on lowering cholesterol and fluidizing bile promote good liver function.
*Milk Thistle Extract: The source is an herb containing the potent flavonoid, Silymarin, beneficial for changing the structure of the outer membrane or cell wall of the hepatic cell (hepatocytes) and preventing toxins or other contaminants from entering the cell. It stimulates protein synthesis in the hepatic cell and damaged hepatic cell regeneration. Furthermore, it inhibits the enzyme lipoxygenase, which catalyzes the reaction that forms polyunsaturated fats that are able to damage the liver. In addition, it stimulates the enzyme superoxide dismutase which, together with the enzyme glutathione peroxidase is fundamental for detoxification and hepatic cell regeneration.
